Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)

Immigration New Zealand announced fresh information about the new Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

Immigration New Zealand announced fresh information about the new Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

This is a temporary work visa that will replace the Essential Skills Work Visa and Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa and will open to applications in July this year.

There are 3 steps to start hiring offshore recruits under this new visa:

Step 1: Get accredited! Employers will be able to apply for accreditation from 23 May

Step 2: Get your job checked! Once accredited, the employer will need to apply for a job check for each job they want to hire a migrant worker for. Job checks will be available from 20 June.

Step 3: If the job passes the job check, the migrant worker can apply for a visa from 4 July.

To apply for a AEWV, migrants will need to have a genuine job offer from an Accredited Employer, and a signed employment agreement before they come to New Zealand. We are awaiting further information and policy around this new process, but we are already looking forward to helping migrants and employers on this journey!
